Health and Safety

At Inflatable Hire Scotland, our number one priority at each and every one of our events is safety. It is important for customers to enjoy themselves and have a positive experience, and this can only be truly achieved when guests can relax knowing that they are as safe as they possibly can be.

Covid-19

We are delighted to announce that we are now taking steps to start hiring inflatables again after temporarily closing due to the Coronavirus outbreak. We are now operating strictly under the following conditions to help keep everyone safe:

  • We will only hire to secure back gardens of houses and only members (e.g. children) of that SINGLE household are allowed on our equipment. Under no circumstances must you invite other family members not living with you or neighbours, friends etc round to play on our equipment.
  • You must stay indoors while we set up and collect our equipment.
  • Regrettably, we cannot carry equipment through your home. We must have clear access to your BACK garden (e.g. through a side entrance or back-gate, or temporary removal of a fence panel).
  • Our equipment will be professionally and carefully cleaned and sanitised before it is delivered to you.
  • If you do NOT have an outdoor socket, then your own 13 amp extension lead will need to be plugged in and put outside for us to plug into before our arrival.
  • Payment must be made online (e.g. BACS) to avoid contact – and regrettably we cannot accept cash.
  • If anyone at the party (or who shares the same household) has any symptoms of COVID-19 or starts to develop symptoms during the hire then the use of the inflatable must cease and we must immediately be informed of this.
  • After collection, our equipment will be taken back to our premises and thoroughly cleaned and sanitized with industrial anti-bacteria and disinfectant. We then leave them in storage for a minimum of 3 days before being hired again and our vehicles and storage units will also be sanitised.
  • Please respect social distancing of at least 2 metres at all times whilst we are in your back garden, especially when we are pointing out the safety guidelines for inflatable play.
  • Please note that when we arrive at your house, all adults and children must be indoors and likewise on collection, all adults and children need to be indoors. Delivery/collection times will be arranged beforehand, at a mutually convenient time, and the party must be finished with everyone indoors when we collect.
  • Strictly no overnight hires on any of our inflatables.

We want to reassure our customers that we are taking every precaution to maintain a hygienic and safe environment

We will only be taking bookings for BACK garden hires only and will continue to operate social distancing measures.

Setting up on Concrete

We set up all of our inflatables safely and securely and if we don’t deem the area or ground safe to set up the inflatable, then we won’t set up.

All of our Health & Safety guidelines and laws are in place for a reason and to ensure everyone can have a fun, entertaining time while in a safe environment. You and your guest’s health & safety is more important to us than any hire, and it is your responsibility to make sure the surface is suitable to set up on and is large enough to hold the equipment on hire to you. We will happily share all sizes of inflatables with you so you can double check the ground space provided.

SETTING UP AN INFLATABLE ON HARD EXTERIOR GROUND

The government rules are each inflatable should have 165KG of pressure on EACH anchor point and some of our inflatables have up to 16 anchor points, this is nearly 3 tone of weight which is impossible and impractical to carry to an event and would mean additional costs to the hirer for extra drivers and vehicles. The safe alternative is the “bolt system”. Please read on to find out more on our drill & bolt system – government approved.

DRILL AND BOLT SYSTEM

Drilling and bolting is an easy and secure method to safely install your inflatable to the ground and it only takes a few minutes to complete. Our team drill a 10mm hole in your tarmac/concrete area for each of the anchor points on the inflatable. Our team use a special bolt and bracket to anchor point the inflatable into the group and this gets tightened up with a ratchet - securing it to the surface. The inflatable is now ready for you and your guests to enjoy. At the end of your hire, our team simply come back remove the bolts from the surface and the hole left is no bigger than a 5p piece, this hole is then filled black silicone to seal it up again and make it not noticeable and next time you order an inflatable, we can simply remove the silicone and use the same holes, if suitable.

It is your responsibility to ensure we have permission to drill into the roads etc. We can’t use this system on gravel, flag stone or any kind of decorative slabs as these will just shatter as we drill into them.

Setting up on grass is no different, we can still safely peg down or inflatables with our 13inch metal pegs.

Certified Equipment

The first step to ensuring the safety of our guests and our own team is the equipment. At Inflatable Hire Scotland we only operate equipment that is in excellent condition, that is well looked after by our operators and properly maintained by our in-house maintenance team. All bounce-on inflatables are PIPA certified while all electrical equipment is fully PAT tested ensuring that the equipment in use is not only top quality but in peak condition.

Professional Operators

As well as the equipment itself, having professional, fully-qualified operators to deliver, set-up and dismantle safely is paramount. Our team are all trained in the supervision of the many inflatable activities that we own and operate from Bouncy Castles right through to our Inflatable Laser Tag which is the largest in the UK.

Moreover, having Emergency First Aid Trained staff at all of our events ensures that we have the skill and experience available to assist with any incidents that do occur on the day. In this way we are able to minimise the risk of any accidents, as well as deal with them quickly and efficiently when they do.

Memberships

We are also members of TIPE and the BIHA, both of which are organisations which pride themselves in their industry leading standards.

Our Public Liability Insurance is to the value of £5 million to give you peace of mind that you and your guests are covered in any eventuality.

The combination of all of these safety measures, as well as full instruction for all participants on the use of the inflatables guarantees that when you book your next inflatable event with Inflatable Hire Scotland our team will be working hard to ensure your safety at all times.
